Norway is losing control over its gambling market!
The European Gambling and Betting Association reports that Norway is losing control over its gambling market. According to the EGBA General Secretary Maatren Haijer, Norwegian gamblers place 66% of their bets in foreign online casinos, and this number is rapidly growing.
That’s because Norway is the only Scandinavian country that still has a gambling monopoly! There are only two state-owned operators that have licenses, while all the great online casinos are banned!
The Norwegian government thinks this is the best way to protect their citizens from problem gambling and all sorts of shady operators. But so far, they’re only protecting the country’s budget from an extra 200 million euros in taxes per year. Not to mention that Norwegians are basically gambling wherever they can and aren’t actually protected from scammers at all.
Let’s hope that they take a cue from neighbouring Sweden and Denmark, who have long switched to a multi-licensing system and are clearly not regretting it.
Tough news from Sweden!
We have pretty tough news from Sweden. First, the local authorities changed their mind about lifting the covid casino restrictions in June, so the monthly deposit limits and bonus caps will stick around through at least November.

Not to mention that cutting off payment services paralyzes casino operations. Good news is the problem is now being addressed by the Swedish Trade Association, so let’s hope that it gets better soon.
